The Developmental Playroom — A Spark Exclusive

Every day, your child spends 30 minutes in a dedicated, separate environment unlike anything they'll find at another preschool in the area.

The Developmental Playroom changes completely every month, rotating with our nine curriculum themes throughout the year. One month it's set up for space exploration. The next, an ocean adventure. Each setup intentionally embeds pre-academic skills — but your child just thinks they're having an extraordinary time.

This is the one space at Spark where children are entirely in charge. Teachers support and encourage — but the children lead the play. It's where collaboration happens naturally, where problems get solved creatively, and where social-emotional skills develop through experience rather than instruction.

Enrichment — Five Subjects, Five Days a Week

Every child in the 3's program experiences a different enrichment subject every single day:

Mon Spanish
Tue STEM
Wed Art
Thu Communication
Fri Music & Movement

Most preschools in Central Illinois don't offer a second language. At Spark, Spanish is part of every Monday — not because we expect three-year-olds to become fluent, but because the research on language acquisition is clear: exposing children to a second language during the preschool years builds neural pathways that make learning any language easier for the rest of their lives.

Questions About the 3's Program

What is the age requirement for the 3's program?
Children must be three years old by their first day of school and must be fully potty trained. If your child will turn three mid-year, ask us about Fresh 3's Fridays — our rolling-enrollment introductory program that allows children to start on their third birthday.
Does my child need to be potty trained?
Yes. All Spark programs require full potty training before a child's first day. If your child is still working on this milestone, we'd encourage you to reach out — we're happy to talk through timing and what to expect.
How do I choose between T/Th and M/W?
Both options are identical in curriculum, enrichment, and daily schedule. The choice is entirely based on what works best for your family's weekly routine. There's no academic difference between the two.
What is the class size?
The 3's program has a maximum of 10–12 students per class with a 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio. This is among the lowest ratios available at any preschool in the Peoria area.
Can I add days mid-year?
Yes. Many families start with Fresh 3's Fridays and add Monday and Wednesday classes when their child is ready for more. The transition happens organically — no re-enrollment required. Contact us when you're ready and we'll make it simple.
What if my child has a hard time with drop-off?
Separation challenges are common and completely normal for three-year-olds. Our teachers are trained to support the adjustment process, and our homelike environment is specifically designed to ease the transition. We'll communicate with you closely during the first few weeks and will always let you know how your child's day went.
